Map Rotation - 2006/09/28 23:21 Hi all...

Ive played quite a bit of Reactance mod which your running... which has drawn me to your servers....

But is there any chance in getting a map rotation going?.... I know from our clan server that if we ran ctf1 allll the time, ppl would eventually get bored...

I like the server.... nice and non laggy - but any chance of making it a bit more interesting?

well we are active but most of us are busy these days...i hope anyway

thanks for your feedback on the servers, i accually pay/run these servers and ive found that if there is a rotation most people will just callvote ctf1 everytime

so i just have ctf1 on, on the other hand our ffa server runs a nice map rotation but again lots of people callvote dm17 lol

the servers are down atm but a new one will be up soon.

Yea - I just stopped by to confirm that we (I hope - as SpAzY mentioned already hehe) are active as a squirel dosed with caffeine XD

As I can honestly talk just for myself - At least I am active for sure - just (as I see it) there isnt enough hours currently per day for me to successfully attend everywhere I would like to

...trully - who else can confirm that normal 24hr day is less then half of what it should be to fully satisfy your needs?

Yeah i know what you mean with the callvote back to the same old map -(especially ctf1) The servers i normally play on actually took that map out of the rotation for a while cos it was just .... well.... seriously overplayed.

Theres always some maps ppl will want to skip, so disabling callvoting doesnt work (tried that) - it just kills the server of people.

I dunno - i find myself scooting in for one game and headin back to my old servers for a bit of variety so i never really stick around as i get bored playing the same old map...

Damn shame though - as my ping is far better to your servers

SpAzY: m8 - if ill get some free minutes for wasting - i could code some simple script for quick configuration of current map rotation on the server (certainly will be accessible for using only by people with proper RCON password at the simpliest version ...maybe ill get even more time to code the votable front-end that could be used also by regular players without need to know the proper RCON password).

...also SpAzY - just BTW - the basic script is already complete and if case you are still using mine server scripts/configs - it is already loaded in place each time you start the server mate as per usage that follows:

/rcon @mapRotation - to toggle Server Map Rotation ON/OFF
/rcon @mapRotationOn - for turning Server Map Rotation ON
/rcon @mapRotationOff - for turning Server Map Rotation OFF

fa-map-rotation.cfg - config file for single map
current default:
- q3dm17

fa-map-rotation2.cfg - config file for map cycle
current default:
- q3dm17
- q3dm16
- q3dm8
- q3dm13
- q3dm9
- q3tourney4
- q3dm6
- q3dm14

NOTE: It is up to you how many map rotation files you will create with any maps in rotation you would like to. Place the .cfg files into same directory (i think it is currently mod dir) as the file fa-map-rotation2.cfg is located and name those as fa-map-rotationX.cfg where X will be rotation config file number
...those new files needs to be added also to the map-rotation_toggler.cfg file - just copy-paste current SET line codes within the file to multiply possible options according to those which are there already


...certainly lemme know in case something aint clear to you from above hehe ...or (in case you are lazy byatch XD) just mail me all rotation details u wanna add and I will implement it right away

There's quite a few out there as you know that arent original Q3 maps ..... and i have a pretty good idea of what the favourites are that run on the servers i play on..... so they may go down well on yours too...

Not all maps are good for reactance - but some others however rock
